Hateful ideas feed on uncertainty, and you might face a lot of uncertainty as a young person.

Figuring out who you are can be exciting but also lonely and scary. These feelings are normal and won't last forever. Donโ€™t trust anyone telling you this uncertainty is another person or groupโ€™s fault. Remember, while you do need to be especially aware of hate, you also are the key to UPending it.

Meet The Youth Behind The Campaign

The UP End Hate Youth Advisory Council helped make this project a reality. The Council is made up of youth of all ages from across the country who want to make a difference. Take a minute to meet them!

"In a society that is becoming increasingly polarized and divided at the expense of our peers, it has become paramount to our livelihood to become involved in dispelling hate in all forms on every platform. The rise of the internet, like with all man-made technological advances, has been a transformative double-edged sword, and as we look at the problems humankind is facing, we will need to focus on what unites us instead of what divides us. With all of this in mind, I am passionate about doing my part to create a more just and humane society by any means possible."

โ€œI am involved with this important campaign becasue I want to make a change. MLK once said, โ€˜Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.โ€

โ€œIn order for one to stop hate-based violence you must meet it with love. The object is not to hate the hate but to teach those how to love. If one can not learn to love they will only know how to hate.โ€

โ€œIโ€™m passionate about ending hate-based violence because it threatens the fundamental rights and dignity of individuals. By fostering unity and promoting tolerance, we can build safer and more compassionate communities for everyone.โ€
